Scream Directors Say Horror-Comedy Sequel Fans Have Been Wanting For Years Uptrends

The directors behind the modern Scream films are bringing back the film that put them in the spotlight with Ready or not 2. The original won over fans and critics alike, putting the filmmaker collective called Radio Silence on the map. It also helped elevate its star, Samara Weaving, to a household name.

Ready Or Not 2 is officially happening

Ready or not 2 will continue the world of the original 2019 hit. It starred Samara Weaving as Grace, a woman marrying into an elite family with an old deal with the devil. This deal forces the family to play a deadly game of hide and seek, with the family having to hunt down Grace and ritually murder her before dawn.

We don’t know much about Ready or not 2 for now, with the sequel announcement coming back in October with minimal details. Some familiar names are attached to the film, with the first film’s screenwriters Guy Busick and R. Christopher Murphy returning with its star, Samara Weaving. No director has been announced for the sequel, but the return of Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillet is a possibility due to Radio Silence’s continued involvement.

The cast of Ready or not 2 could be particularly interesting, as the first movie ended with almost all the characters dead. Samara Weaving was joined in the original film by Adam Brody, Mark O’Brien, Henry Czernie and Andie MacDowell, among others. Of course, with the film’s supernatural premise, a character dying in the first film doesn’t necessarily mean they can’t return for the sequel.

The original was a big success

Radio Silence and Weaving will attempt to recreate the success of the first film with Ready or not 2. It grossed $57.6 million on a budget of just $6 million, making it a huge financial success. It was a hit with horror fans and won over critics too, earning an excellent 89 percent on Rotten Tomatoes.

After the success of the original film, Radio Silence became much more active in the horror world, Ready or not 2 could help maintain this momentum. They took the reins of the beloved Scream franchise, successfully bringing back Wes Craven’s iconic ’90s meta-slasher. They also released another original film earlier this year with Abigail, a film about a group of criminals who unwittingly kidnap a child vampire.

Samara Weaving is back for more

Ready or not 2 will also see Samara Weaving return to one of her leading roles. Already an established television actress and model, the first film helped cement Weaving as a scream queen, a reputation the actress built upon. Although she has appeared outside of the horror realm in films like Guns on the hips And Nine complete strangers, she continued to star in horror films like 2022 Azrael.

It’s unclear when fans can expect Ready or not 2, but the fact that the movie is happening is exciting news. With so many people returning from the original, there’s plenty of reason to be optimistic about the horror sequel. Fans should be on the lookout for casting news and filming dates in the coming months now that the film has been announced.
