Shoaib and Ushna clinch titles at the Sheriar Malik Memorial Pakistan Open Tennis Tournament Up trends

Lahore: Muhammad Shoaib and Ushna Sohail clinched the men’s and women’s singles titles at the Sheheryar Malik Memorial Pakistan Open Tennis Championships 2024 which concluded at the Punjab Sports Academy of Tennis in Nishtar Park, Lahore.

In the exciting men’s singles final, Mohammed Shoaib defeated Muzammil Murtaza with a score of 3-6, 6-3, 6-2, while Ushna Sohail performed brilliantly to secure the women’s singles title, defeating Noor Malik with a score of 6-6. 0, 6-0.

In the 40+ senior doubles final, Hadi and Ashar Ali Khan defeated Talha Waheed and Shehryar Salamat in a closely contested match, finishing 3-6, 6-3, 10-8. The duo, Waqar Nizar and Noman Aleem, won the doubles title for seniors 55+, after defeating Ch Wahid and Kafi Siddiqui with a score of 6-0, 6-2.

In the over-65 doubles final, Asad Niaz and Kamran Mir defeated Waqar Nisar and Inamul Haq 6-3, 6-1.

In the youth categories, Abu Bakr Talha from the WAPDA team clinched the U-18 boys’ title after Hamza Roman retired with a score of 7-5 and 1-2. Soha Ali showed off her skills by defeating Shiza Sajid 6-2, 6-0 in the U-18 girls final. In the under-18 boys’ doubles, Abu Bakr Talha won his second title in the tournament, and his partner Haider Ali Radwan, who defeated Omar Jawad and Hamza Ali Radwan with a score of 6-2 and 6-1.

In the U-16 boys final, M. Yahya won over Abdel Rahman with a score of 6-4. The U14 boys final was won by Beaconhouse Defense Campus student Omar Jawad, who beat Hassan Othmani 5-4, 4-1. In the under-14 boys’ doubles, Abdul Rahman and Mahad Shehzad defeated Hassan Othmani and Raziq Sultan 4-2, 4-1. In the U-12 boys’ and girls’ doubles final, Muhammad Moaz and Muhammad Ayan defeated Ibrahim Hussein Gil and Rashid Ali Bashani with a score of 5-4, 4-5, 6-3 (retired).

In the under-10 boys and girls category (Punjab classification), Arsh Imran won over M Ayan with a score of 6-3. The ceremony witnessed the presence of Mr. Bilal Yassin, Minister of Housing, Urban Development and Public Health Engineering, as the chief guest. Other prominent figures attending the occasion included players, their families and tennis fans.
