Champions Trophy will not be transferred: ICC Up trends

International Cricket Council (ICC) CEO Geoff Allardyce confirmed that there are currently no plans to move the 2025 ICC Champions Trophy from Pakistan and stressed that no team has expressed reluctance to play in the tournament.

Speaking at a press conference in Dubai, organized for the Women’s T20 World Cup, Jeff expressed his satisfaction with the venue of the tournament.

He stated that the ICC continued to make regular visits to its member states, including Pakistan, to ensure the success of hosting the events. Despite the previous challenges, he stressed that all participating teams are committed to playing in Pakistan.

The 2025 ICC Champions Trophy, known as the ‘Mini World Cup’, is set to feature eight elite teams including India, Australia, New Zealand, England, South Africa, Bangladesh and Afghanistan, based on their performances in the 2023 ODI World Cup.

Sri Lanka and West Indies will not compete in this edition. The Women’s T20 World Cup, which was originally scheduled to be held in Bangladesh, will now be held in Dubai and Sharjah due to political instability in Bangladesh. The tournament begins on October 3, with the final match taking place on October 20.

Speaking to the media, Jeff reiterated the ICC’s confidence in Pakistan’s ability to host the Champions Trophy and reiterated the organization’s commitment to promoting the development of world cricket and international engagement.

Three stadiums – Karachi, Rawalpindi and Lahore – will host eight-team matches, and as per the schedule proposed by the PCB to the ICC, all India’s matches will be played in Lahore.

The PCB has also allocated Rs 12.80 billion for the development of three stadiums. Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore, National Cricket Stadium in Karachi and Rawalpindi International Cricket Stadium will be raised before the big event.
