When it comes to celebrities and Halloween, most of the hyped headlines focus on who’s dressing up as what (for example, the cosmic coincidence that Janelle Monae and Heidi Klum wore elaborate ET costumes this year) . However, one incredibly popular celebrity made waves not because of what he wore but what he said about how others dressed. Ryan Reynolds took to X (formerly Twitter) to praise the different Deadpool and Wolverine costumes and reenactments he saw on Halloween, describing the experience as “a dream come true, but a dream you didn’t know you were dreaming.”

Ryan Reynolds praised the different Deadpool costumes he saw that night and seemed touched to have created something that had such resonance with so many different people. He admitted that “I’m not aloof or cool about stuff like that” and was heartfelt about how everyone’s obvious adoration of his films made him feel. The crux of his message was gratitude: “no part of me takes it for granted or feels entitled to it,” he wrote.

Reading Ryan Reynolds’ account of Halloween night, the deadly Deadpool costumes he saw were just the beginning of what made the night so special. “If you’re me, you’ll never know what that is,” he said, describing it as the fulfillment of a childhood fantasy. “I’m five years old and I’m looking out the window at an impossible future.” Although he didn’t explicitly elaborate, this appears to be a reference to the star’s lifelong love of the Merc With a Mouth and the fact that the world now seems to share his love for this original Marvel character .

Ryan Reynolds, however, explained how the quality of the Deadpool costumes he saw was a big part of what impressed him that night: “People have done mini-movies and worn some of the best costumes that I’ve ever seen.” As cosplayers, we can kinda understand his passion…it’s always rewarding to see someone’s elaborate costume, but how much cooler must it be if that killer costume is an homage to your character. own hard work?

Continuing, Ryan Reynolds described the two types of Deadpool and Wolverine costumes he saw that night and how the people wearing them managed to take things to the next level by “quoting lines and performing stunts.” Part of what made the film so memorable (aside from the gloriously vulgar humor) was the sheer amount of variations of Deadpool we got to see, and it feels like that variety has spilled over from the big screen and in the Reynolds neighborhood. He wrote that he had seen everything from “Little KidPools to GeezerPools.”

If we had to bet, Ryan Reynold probably would have liked to see Kidpool even more than the rest. Deadpool and Wolverine characters. That’s because the character was played in the hit film by his young daughter, Inez Reynolds. Bringing her and wife Blake Lively (she played Ladypool) into the film helped make this first official MCU outing a family affair; now, things have come full circle and it appears that the family affair is now taking place in the family’s own neighborhood.

Even if you (gasp!) don’t like Ryan Reynolds or Deadpool, it’s hard not to smile when reading his reaction to seeing everyone’s elaborate costumes. The star seems understandably proud of the popular Marvel film he helped create, but he’s also deeply grateful to everyone who helped make it such a success. Deadpool himself may be full of tricks, but for the man behind the mask, Halloween was all tricks.
