Rapid intervention: Annual inter-school sports competitions have begun in Swat district where more than 4,000 players from 115 government schools and 28 private schools from across the district will showcase their talents in various competitions.
District Education Officer Swat Muhammad Riaz inaugurated the event. On the occasion, DEO Deputy Fazal Khaliq Khan, Sports Secretary Riaz Ahmed, ADEO Sports Muhammad Shafiq, Hockey Federation Press Secretary Akhtar Hussain, Hockey Stadium Chairman and Organizer Shamsher Ali, Malik Wadan of Swat Hockey Federation, Hockey Stadium Member Obaid Pasha and others. Committee members were also present.
Shamsher Ali, organizer of the sports event, said that 115 government schools and 28 private schools are participating in these competitions. 106 cricket teams will compete against each other and a total of 1696 players will compete on the cricket field. 38 football teams participated in the tournament, with a total number of 608 players.
There are also 53 teams participating in volleyball, 22 in badminton, 53 in tug of war, 13 in table tennis, four in basketball, and 11 in football.
He said: “Thirteen different matches were held in these competitions, with a total number of teams of 307 and a total number of players of more than 4,000.”
Other than that, competitions in literature and athletics will be separate from them.
Muhammad Riaz, Swat District Education Officer, said that besides teaching the school curriculum, sports opportunities are provided to children, and in this regard, different types of sports tournaments are organized every year in which students actively participate, and sports to accelerate mental development.
