Ending years of speculation, Sony has made it official, and the untitled film Spider-Man 4 has its place on the release schedule: July 24, 2026. That date may seem incredibly far away right now, but it has a certain significance, not only at the height of the summer blockbuster season, but because of what’s happening. has been happening for a few months. earlier, in May 2026. Avengers: Apocalypse will hit theaters on May 1, 2026, which means that no matter what happens with the film reintroducing Robert Downey Jr. as Doctor Doom, we can expect to see some of the fallout immediately in Tom’s next solo film Holland.
The plot is secret
The hype for Spider-Man 4 has built since Spider-Man: No Way Home proved how much fun the multiverse can be by bringing back Tobey Maguire, Andrew Garfield, Marvel’s best villains with Willem Dafoe, Alfred Molina, Thomas Haden Church, Rhys Ifans and redeeming Jamie Foxx’s Electro performance in the process. Immediately after his success, rumors swirled that Tom Holland may have finished and moved on with his career. Instead, Holland is not only back as Peter Parker, but rumors of his increased involvement with the Avengers are growing louder with each underperforming Marvel film.
Sony has confirmed the return of Tom Holland, and Shang Chi Director Destin Daniel Cretton is taking over behind the scenes, but will Zendaya’s MJ or Jacob Batalon’s Ned return? Given that the end of Spider-Man: No Way Home resetting the web-slinger status quo the same way “One More Day” did in the comics, it would make sense if they didn’t return. And will the film continue to explore the multiverse, or could we have a small-scale, street-level story in Spider-Man 4 involving Vincent D’Onofrino’s Kingpin or, even better, Big Wheel?
DOOM is coming
But before Spider-Man 4 is released in theaters, fans will have had the chance to see Avengers: Apocalypsewhich will determine the entire future of the franchise. Replacement Avengers: Kang Dynasty predicted after the arrest of Jonathan Majors, the end result is still the same, with Avengers: Secret Wars end the second MCU era and popotentially reset everything. Given Tom Holland’s increased involvement as the heart of the MCU and the return of Robert Downey Jr. as Doom, we can expect at least one major scene between the two as Peter deals with a villain who looks exactly like his mentor, and will this happen? the basis of the next Spider-Man?
Spider-Man 4 will be a success
Given the release dates, it’s possible we’ll never see a substantial release Spider-Man 4 trailer until after Avengers: Apocalypse is in the cinema. There’s a non-zero chance that the next Spider-Man will be a Battleworld movie, adapting the Secret Wars 2015 miniseries lineup that mixed multiple worlds for four issues, which included a return to Spider-Man: Reign which was so popular that a sequel to the original limited series is on the way. Essentially, however Disney and Marvel mastermind Kevin Feige takes the story, it’s going to be popular and it’s going to break box office records.
