The image displayed by Elon Musk was strangely reminiscent of the aesthetic shown in a very specific scene from Blade Runner 2024which starred Ryan Gosling as K, a blade runner who sports a stylish trench coat and can be seen venturing into the ruins of Las Vegas, a city being reclaimed by the desert amber in color.
According to Alcon Entertainment’s legal team, the publicity event was “clearly intended to be read visually” as a scene from the film and to convince participants. “Any prudent brand considering a partnership with Tesla must take into account Musk’s massively amplified, highly politicized, capricious and arbitrary behavior, which at times veers into hate speech,” the lawsuit reads. “Alcon did not want BR2049 to be affiliated with Musk.”
