Lahore: Asad Zaman of Ali Embroidery Mills, Abu Bakar Talha of Wapda, Haider Ali Rizwan and Muhammad Salar have qualified for the U-18 boys semi-finals of the 2024 Aitchison College Junior Tennis Championships, being held at Aitchison College Road Mall.
In the quarter-finals of the U-18 boys category, Asad Zaman gave a strong performance, defeating Yafat Nadeem 7-5, 6-2, while Muhammad Salar defeated Nabil Qayyum, 6-3, 6-2. Haider Ali Radwan defeated Amir Mazari 6-2 and 6-0, and Abu Bakr Talha defeated Hussein Ali Radwan 6-2 and 6-1 to qualify for the semi-finals.
The U-18 boys’ doubles quarter-final saw Haider Ali Ridwan and Abu Bakar Talha defeat Asad Zaman and Mohamed Salar 6-2, 6-4, to secure their place in the semi-finals. Meanwhile, Mohamed Yahya and Nabil Qayyum defeated Hassan Usmani and M Rayyan Khan in a close match with a score of 6-4, 0-6, 10-2. In other doubles competitions, Amir Mazari and Hamza Ali Radwan defeated Inaam Qadir and Abdul Basit 6-3, 6-1, while Kashan Tariq and Yafat Nadeem defeated Abdullah Yousef and Hamza Ahmed 6-2, 6-1.
In the quarter-finals of the U-14 boys category, Hassan Othmani showed his dominance, defeating Sayed Mahad Shehzad 4-1, 4-1, while Rehab Faisal defeated Raziq Sultan 4-2, 4-2. Abdul Rahman defeated M. Junaid 4-2, 4-0, and Omar Jawad defeated Rashid Ali Bashani, 4-1, 4-0.
The U12 boys quarter-final was equally exciting, with Rachid Ali Bachani defeating Owhadi Mustafa in a three-set battle, 4-0, 0-4, 4-0. M Junaid defeated Muhammad Ayan 4-2 and 4-1, and Muhammad Moaz defeated Muhammad Arsh Imran 4-0 and 4-1. In a close match, Ibrahim Hussein Gill defeated Zaid Zaman 2-4, 5-4, 4-2.
In the first round of the Punjab U-16 rankings, standout performances included Amir Mazari’s 6-0 win over Haider Nadeem and Abdullah Sajjad Wahla’s 7-5 win over Rehan Khan. Other notable victories included Rehab Faisal’s dominant 6-0 victory over Syed Ahmed Ch, and Ali Bachani’s 6-3 victory over Allai Hussein.
In the under-10 boys and girls category, Ibrahim Hussein Gill continued his brilliance by defeating Murad 6-0, while Behrouz Wander defeated Rahim Faisal 7-6. Omar Zaman defeated M Musa 6-3, and M Ehsan Bari defeated Wajeeha Fatima 6-1. Salman Pirzada also achieved a comfortable victory over Abdul Saadi 6-2, while Iman Shahbaz won in a close match over Mortaza 7-5.
